A modern mixed conditions front tire, the new High Roller 3 features a hybrid design , consisting of well spaced, relatively tall centre knobs and large solid side blocks. That combination creates a tire which is able to penetrate softer ground almost like a cut spike without becoming too vague when cornering on harder surfaces. You can take it anywhere, to any gravity fed track and no matter what kind of riding appears know that it will still perform. It may not have quite cushioning and hard surface grip of an Assegai when it comes to bike park berms and greasy rock, but as a gravity Jack of all trades it's tremendously well rounded and when things get slippy, it's unbeatable. The short version is that for dry weather, hardpack and bikepark riding, the Assegai is still king with the best cushioning and grip, but for everything else and especially mud, the High Roller is the one to go to. If both of those are slower rolling than you'd prefer the DHR II actually works pretty well as a front tire and rolls quicker than either. It looks a lot like a Maxxis Shorty? It does and we think it essentially replaces that tire. It's every bit as good in foul conditions but far superior in the dry, so it's a much better overall package. Can I use the High Roller 3 as a rear tire? You absolutely could if you wanted. It would have very good braking grip indeed, but it's not the fastest rolling option and the tall centre knobs would probably wear quite quickly from rear wheel skidding. On an E-bike it would also give enormous climbing traction so if durability isn't a major concern then it could work very well for steeper riding.
