Here the shade is a squat, flattened sphere of Spanish alabaster, the shape of a river stone worn smooth on both faces, hanging from a brass gooseneck. A beaded brass chain drops from the plate and ends in a small teardrop pull. Lit, the stone turns milk-white with soft grey clouding and lights the arm and plate above it.
