“Machine” began as a moniker for our founder Nick Lavery. As he repeatedly deployed into combat and other operational environments as an above-the-knee amputee, the locals, his partner force, and even foreign government officials began referring to him as variations of “The Machine”. This is of course understandable given nobody, neither here in the United States or anywhere else, had ever seen such a daunting, cyborg-like force operating as a member of a Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA). Nick realized that had it not been for the efforts of countless individuals… he never would have achieved his mission of returning to operational status, nor be the man he is today. It is, in fact, by virtue of the TEAM that he was and is successful and through this realization… MCHN was born. What started as a word to represent a single individual has evolved.
