This encaustic painting features a nest of blue eggs against the backdrop of the Prayer of St. Francis. It is comprised of multiple layers of clear and pigmented wax resulting in a sculptural, multi-dimensional work. An image transfer is encased within the wax layers, and pastel and ink were added to render fine details as the layers were added. A custom blend of beeswax and damar resin adds a translucency to give the artwork a glow and depth. The overall artwork size is 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", and it is mounted in an 8" x 8" handcrafted shadowbox. The hymn page of the Prayer of St. Francis is mounted on the inside of the box. The shadowbox is painted gray with raw, exposed edges. Also included is an encaustic care card which tells about the encaustic process, history, and how to care for your new encaustic painting. Due to the nature of the encaustic process, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. The painting you receive will be created in the same style and palette as the one pictured, but will feature its own unique textures, patterns, and variations. Show more
