Alexandra Howie's work is inspired by the carved and sculpted marble drapery of the Classical and Hellenistic periods. In this work drapery spills from the opening of this archetyp al vase form. The milkstone glaze which reveals the clay body at the apex of each ripple reinforces the themes of concealment and revelation.
