Mega Aquarium Plant Pack Want to fill out a larger aquarium with live plants without choosing every species individually? Our Mega Aquarium Plant Pack gives you a large, varied selection of plants hand-picked from the healthy stock we have available. Each pack includes: 8 bunched aquarium plants 3 potted aquarium plants A total retail value greater than $50 when purchased individually A varied selection chosen by the Simply Fish team The option to request particular plants or styles where stock allows This is our go-to plant pack for customers setting up larger aquariums, heavily planting a new tank or wanting significantly more plant coverage than our Beginner Aquarium Plant Pack. Why Choose the Mega Plant Pack? Buying plants individually can quickly add up when you're trying to fill a larger aquarium. The Mega Plant Pack gives you 11 plant selections in one easy package, with a mix of bunched and potted plants to help create different heights, textures and planting areas throughout the aquarium. We select from the healthy plants available at the time your order is packed rather than sending a fixed combination every time. Who Is It For? We recommend the Mega Aquarium Plant Pack for: Medium to large freshwater aquariums New planted aquarium setups Customers wanting to heavily plant a tank from the beginning Aquascapes needing a mixture of foreground, midground and background plants People who want variety without choosing every plant individually Existing planted tanks that need a substantial refresh If you're just getting started with plants or have a smaller aquarium, our Beginner Aquarium Plant Pack may be the better starting point. What Plants Will I Receive? The exact plants vary depending on what is healthy and available when your order is packed. Plants we commonly stock may include: Ambulia Dwarf Sagittaria Star Grass Willow Leaf Hygrophila Hygrophila Polysperma Blue Hygrophila Red Hygrophila Twisted Vallisneria Baby Tears Cherry Leaf Red Ludwigia Cardamine Wisteria Rotala Rotundifolia Cryptocoryne varieties Amazon Sword Ozelot Sword Rose Sword Dwarf Hairgrass Lobelia Cardinalis Lilaeopsis Moneywort Red Pine Rotala Availability changes constantly, so we cannot guarantee individual species unless arranged beforehand. Can I Request Certain Plants? Yes. If there are particular plants you'd like, plants you'd prefer us to avoid, or a particular look you're trying to create, leave a note with your order. For example, you can tell us: You want mostly easy-care plants You'd prefer taller background plants You want more red plants You don't want Vallisneria You already have lots of a particular species You're setting up a specific size or style of aquarium We'll do our best to accommodate your request based on the healthy stock available at the time. Beginner Plant Pack vs Mega Plant Pack Beginner Aquarium Plant Pack Best for: Smaller tanks First-time plant keepers Adding a few easy plants Trying live plants without spending heavily Includes: 5 plant selections Mega Aquarium Plant Pack Best for: Medium to large tanks New planted aquarium setups Heavier planting Customers wanting much more coverage from the start Includes: 8 bunched plants 3 potted plants If your goal is to make a noticeable difference to the amount of plant mass in your aquarium straight away, we'd choose the Mega Pack. Do I Need CO₂? Not necessarily. The Mega Plant Pack can include a range of species with different requirements, but we can prioritise easier plants if you're running a low-tech aquarium without injected CO₂. If you do run CO₂, stronger lighting and regular fertilisation, let us know in your order notes and we can take that into account when selecting your plants. What Lighting Do I Need? Your lighting requirements depend on the exact species included. For a straightforward planted aquarium, a suitable aquarium LED light is generally a good starting point. If you have a basic light and want easier species, let us know. If you have a high-output planted aquarium light and want plants that can make better use of it, tell us that too. What Substrate Should I Use? Many common aquarium plants can be grown successfully in gravel or sand, especially when suitable fertilisers are provided. Root-feeding plants such as Cryptocoryne and Sword plants benefit from nutrients around their roots, so root tabs can be particularly useful in inert substrates. For a dedicated planted aquarium, nutrient-rich aquasoil or planted aquarium substrate can make establishing plants easier. How Do I Plant Them? Different plants need to be planted differently. Stem plants:Separate the stems and plant them individually into the substrate with a small amount of space between each stem. Cryptocoryne and Sword plants:Plant the roots into the substrate while keeping the crown of the plant above the substrate. Java Fern and Anubias:Do not bury the rhizome. Attach them to rock, wood or décor, or position the roots so the rhizome remains exposed. If you're unsure how to plant something in your pack, contact us and we'll point you in the right direction. Simply Fish Recommends If you're setting up a decent-sized planted aquarium and want it to look established faster, we'd choose the Mega Plant Pack over buying a handful of individual plants. The extra plant mass also gives you more opportunity to see what grows best under your particular lighting, fertilisation and water conditions. For the best start, we'd pair the pack with: Suitable aquarium lighting A good liquid plant fertiliser Root fertiliser where required A planted substrate or aquasoil if you're building the tank from scratch CO₂ is a great upgrade for more demanding planted tanks, but it isn't compulsory for every setup. Shipping Aquarium Plants Our plants are hand-selected before packing. Plants are shipped in water inside a solid plastic container to help protect them during transport. Shipping generally takes around 2–3 days, and we aim to send plant orders early in the week to reduce unnecessary time sitting in courier depots. Plant orders can also be combined with fish and other aquarium products. FAQ How many plants do I receive? You receive 11 plant selections: 8 bunched plants and 3 potted plants. Are all 11 plants different? We aim to provide a useful variety, but the exact combination depends on the stock available when your order is packed. Can I choose the exact plants? You can make requests and we'll do our best to accommodate them, but specific plants cannot always be guaranteed. Is the Mega Plant Pack suitable for beginners?Yes. If you're a beginner, leave us a note and we can prioritise easier-care plants where possible. Do I need CO₂?No. Let us know you're running a low-tech aquarium and we can take that into account when selecting your plants. What size aquarium is this pack suitable for? It's best suited to customers wanting substantial plant coverage in a medium or larger aquarium. The exact amount of coverage depends on the aquarium dimensions and how heavily you want it planted. Should I choose the Beginner or Mega Plant Pack?Choose the Beginner Pack if you want a small, inexpensive introduction to live plants. Choose the Mega Pack if you're setting up a larger tank or want considerably more plant coverage from day one.
