The MIT515/2 is designed for safety, with a CAT IV 600V safety rating and is certified to operate at altitudes of up to 3000 meters. It has a five-level voltage warning system, automatic capacitive discharge, and hazardous peak voltage detection during IR measurement. The MIT515/2 is housed in a dual-case design where the inner case is a fire-retardant and the outer shell is rugged to ensure durability in harsh environments. With an IP65 rating (lid closed), the unit is protected against dust and moisture ingress and the supplied test leads are double insulated and feature locking HV plugs and non-removable clips to prevent accidental disconnection and ensure safe operation. The MIT515/2 is powered by a 10.8V, 5.2Ah lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which provides up to 6 hours of continuous testing at 5kV with a 100MΩ load. A 30-minute quick charge provides approximately one hour of operation, and it can also operate directly from AC mains power when needed. The MIT515/2 comes with a high-contrast backlit display that is readable in bright sunlight or low-light conditions, as well as an intuitive dual rotary controls and a graphical quick-start guide under the lid to help first-time users. Unlike models in Megger’s Advanced or Expert ranges, the MIT515/2 does not include onboard data storage or USB connectivity. This makes it ideal for simple “go/no-go” testing scenarios that do not require recording results. The MIT515/2 works in applications such as manufacturing quality checks, pre-installation benchmarking, post-repair verification, and routine maintenance and is supplied with a 3-metre lead set with medium-sized clips, a power lead, and a calibration certificate, ensuring users have everything they need for immediate deployment.
