Engine coolant temperature sensor for the Bosch engine management system on the 4.0L and 4.6L EFi Rover V8 petrol engine. The sensor threads into the coolant circuit and reports co olant temperature to the engine control unit, which uses the signal for cold-start enrichment, warm-up fuelling and idle mixture control. A failing sensor typically gives hard cold starting, a rich or erratic idle while the engine warms up, and a stored coolant-temperature circuit fault code.
