Microfibre is a very fine synthetic fibre packed loosely so it traps air, which is what makes the pillow light and soft. Soft rather than supportive We would rather be straight about the trade-off. A microfibre fill compresses easily under the weight of your head, so it cradles rather than holds. That suits back and stomach sleepers, who have only a small gap to fill between head and mattress, and it suits anyone who has found memory foam too firm or too warm. Side sleepers leave the widest gap and generally do better with a fill that holds its height — one of the memory foam pillows in our range. It is also a sensible choice for a spare room, a child's bed, or as a second pillow behind your main one.
