When a person's memory needs to be jogged, an alert tone will prompt him, or her, to press the pendant button. Then a familiar pre-recorded voice will explain what has to be done at that moment – a living aid that supports and reassures. Pressing the pendant and hearing the personalised messages spoken in a familiar voice is incredibly comforting, like having the person next to you in the same room. It also helps to have the alert tone sound in order to remind you to press the pendant button and listen to the messages. This gentle reminder of the everyday tasks that have to be done, takes away the worry and anxiety of knowing you should be doing something, but can’t quite remember what.
