Memorex dB - 1993 - CA "A bonafide Super Ferric. It performed superbly, took a lot of signal and a very underrated cassette" Tony Villa. See the video below for a full review. This magnetic tape is very dark, shiny, very smooth and very well cut. Very good looking cassette too. Made in China and made with... a lot of quality! Well designed, and very well put together. Tony Villa suspects this may have been excess super-ferric inventory put onto to this cassette with a highly cobalt-doped formula for an extremely dark Type I tape. A high quality and "bonafide super-ferric tape"(*) for so much less than some of the more popular expensive super-ferrics. Stock is dwindling and they are increasingly more difficult to find. A cassette that CassetteComeback has no trouble endorsing as one the best 5 top value tapes for your $$.(*) See Tony Villa's video below for his comments about this tape.Note 1: 60 Mins: B-Grade. These are not... B-Grade. They're a bit more scuffed than the other "box-fresh & clean" stock we have. They're just easier to let go at a lower price...Note 2: 90 Mins: B-Grade. Same as above... and these too can barely be considered B-Grade. Just some blemishes on the wrappers and one tape has a 3cm hairline crack on the case on the reverse side that is insignificant. Again, just easier to let these go for a lower price. These may have the light or heavier orange "dB" letters.Note 3: 60 Mins: Box-fresh cassettes with practically no blemishes worthy of mentioning, if at all. Few available.Note 4: 90 Mins: Nearly Box-fresh cassettes with practically no blemishes worthy of mentioning, if at all. Few available.-----------------------------------------------------------------------Watch below a video by Tony Villa on these Memorex dB cassettes that turned out to be a pleasant surprise! About Memorex: Memorex began in 1961 in Silicon Valley as a magnetic‑media company specializing in computer tape and quickly expanded into consumer audio cassettes during the 1970s. Their “Is it live or is it Memorex?” campaign made the brand a household name, and throughout the 1980s and early ’90s they offered a wide range of ferric and chrome tapes, many produced through a shifting OEM lineage that moved from SKC to Saehan and later CMC as global manufacturing consolidated. Memorex became known for accessible, mass‑market formulations that balanced affordability with dependable everyday performance, helping the brand dominate retail shelves across North America. As the cassette era faded, Memorex branched into small electronics, blank CDs, optical media, and storage accessories, maintaining strong visibility in office‑supply and consumer‑tech channels. Today, the brand still exists under new ownership, focusing mainly on storage and accessories, but its cassette legacy remains one of the most recognizable and culturally enduring in the format’s history.
