Robust switched wall socket for indoor or outdoor installation, to be used with a Mode 2 charging cable with 16 Amp CEE plug. Mechanical 'duo' interlock prevents switch being turne d on until plug is properly inserted. It then cannot be removed until switched off. This meets the requirements for domestic installations. Splashproof (IP44) 16 Amp socket gives up to 3.7kW charging, 60% faster than a standard 3-pin plug charging at 10 Amps, ideal for Plug-In Hybrid and low mileage EV drivers. As an example, a 5-hour charge can supply up to 18.5kWh or around 60 miles of driving (based on 3.25 miles/kWh efficiency) A padlock (not supplied) can be used to secure in the OFF position to prevent unauthorised use. Available supply capacity must be verified by a qualified electrician before purchase. Requires professional installation on a new circuit with dedicated RCD, overcurrent and surge protection.
