Mepilex Lite is a thin, highly conformable silicone foam dressing from Molnlycke for non to low exuding wounds. It absorbs light exudate and maintains a moist wound environment, and its soft profile sits discreetly under clothing or a secondary dressing. It suits leg and foot ulcers, pressure injuries, partial thickness burns, radiation skin reactions and Epidermolysis Bullosa, and can also protect compromised or fragile skin. The dressing uses Molnlycke's Safetac contact layer, which adheres to dry skin around the wound but not to the moist wound bed. That means it can be lifted and repositioned during application and removed with less disturbance to the healing surface and the surrounding skin. Underneath sits a polyurethane foam pad that takes up exudate, behind a polyurethane backing film that is breathable and waterproof. Mepilex Lite is supplied in three sizes, each available as a single dressing or a box of five: 6cm x 8.5cm, 10cm x 10cm and 15cm x 15cm. The dressing should cover the dry skin around the wound by at least 1 to 2cm for the smaller sizes (6cm x 8.5cm and 10cm x 10cm) and by 3 to 5cm for the 15cm x 15cm size, per the manufacturer's instructions. It can be cut to fit where a smaller piece is needed. If there are signs of clinical infection, consult a health care professional for appropriate treatment.
