And I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of anything other than sun, sand and beaches when I’m knitting in this sand stitch. For that reason, I decided to name the pieces in this collection after my favorite beach, Merkel beach, in Harwich Port, Massachusetts. This cowl is worked in the round, starting with a 1x1 twisted rib stitch. Then, you will work the main body of the cowl in sand stitch (a four-row repeat). Finally, you will finish the cowl with an identical 1x1 rib stitch as the beginning, so that the top and bottom match.
