I pretty much let this place completely slip out of my memory for a long time after my first visit in 2011 or 2012, so long ago I can't remember. We rolled up early doors, got out of the car, walked for a bit, got inside the perimeter and we were caught within seconds. We just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and were completely unlucky security walked around the corner just as we entered. Fast forward to 2019 and I hope luck would swing our way, and it did. Lots of walking over this vast former navy site which was built in the early 1900's. You didn't want to be posted here, it was a harsh place! It closed in the 70s and used until the late 90s as a college. Loved the receding space in this room, and it was so nice to finally photograph it! I can't believe it's been sitting empty for so long, it's a huge amount of land with a great view.
