The MHG Messerschmidt Timber Framing Chisel is the beveled framing chisel our crews reach for most. Each one is hand-forged in Thuringen, Germany, using a process developed at the turn of the last century, and hardened to 61 HRC along the entire 7-in blade. That matters because the edge you hone years from now, an inch back from where the blade started, cuts the same as the first one you put on it. The handle is set in a sleeve to take daily mallet work. If you have watched our Tool Selection video on YouTube, you know you can cut an entire frame with the 1-1/2-in size alone. We stock all three widths individually and as a boxed set of three, and we sell the fitted wooden box on its own if you already own the chisels. Specifications: Options: 1 in; 1-1/2 in; 2 in; Boxed Set of Three; Wooden Box only (fits the 1, 1-1/2, and 2 in) Blade length: 7 in Overall length: 18 in Hardness: 61 HRC along the full blade length Handle: set in a sleeve for mallet work Wooden box: 2-1/2 in tall x 5-1/2 in wide x 19 in long Made in: Thuringen, Germany by MHG Messerschmidt Also see: Tool Selection Video
