What makes our Meteorite jewellery special: The "Widmanstätten" Pattern: This can only be formed in outer space and is the result of the slow cooling of the crystalline structure in the iron-nickel core. This also means that every pendant has unique latticed cross-sections The story behind its discovery: Discovered by boys playing football in Sweden in 1906, the meteorite landed on Earth around 1 million years ago. When we first sourced the Muonionalusta meteorite for this collection our biggest challenge was its natural tendency to oxidise (rust) due to its high iron content. To prevent this there is a specialised 3-micron white gold coating, creating a protective barrier that preserves the 'Space Grey' lustre.
