The June 2010 Relix issue features our MGMT cover story and much more! MGMT seemingly arrived out of nowhere in 2008 to deliver the smash debut Oracular Spectacular, which included electro-pop hits "Time to Pretend," "Kids" and "Electric Feel." After spending a few years on the road—rubbing elbows with celebrities, scoring praise from a diverse mix of supporters—the group retreated from the limelight to create the dark, psychedelic sophomore follow-up, Congratulations. Relix Executive Editor Mike Greenhaus sits down with band co-founders Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden to figure out where Congratulations came from and why the pair of well-fressed hipsters would rather play for jam heads than hipsters. After finding unexpected success with its electro-pop debut, MGMT challenges fans with a radically different sophomore album steeped in '60s psychedelia. This issue also includes features and articles on Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Daryl Hall, Mike Gordon, The Specials, Galactic, Jonsi, California Chocolate Drops, Trixie Whitley, Chris Berry, Zach Rogue of Rogue Wave, Phil Lesh, Danny Barnes, and more!
