Lambda Sensor - Front (pre-catalyst oxygen sensor) for the exhaust and engine management system of the 4.2L V8 Supercharged and 4.4L V8 petrol engines. The sensor is fitted upstrea m of the catalytic converter and measures residual oxygen in the exhaust gas. Its output is the closed-loop feedback signal the engine control module uses to hold the air/fuel mixture at stoichiometric, which governs both catalyst conversion efficiency and fuel consumption. The unit is heated, allowing closed-loop control to start shortly after a cold start. A sluggish or contaminated sensor typically presents as raised fuel consumption, rough running or a fuel-trim fault code. It is not serviceable and is replaced complete. Show more
