Original antique Michelin poster advertising bicycle tyres - Enveloppe Velo Michelin - featuring a great design by Fabien Fabiano (1882-1962) depicting the Bibendum / Michelin Man character made out of white tyres and smoking a cigar and wearing gold cufflinks on his cuffs and boots, standing behind a young lady in a blue dress holding up two tyres, one tire scrunched up in her left hand to show its flexibility and the other solid round tire marked Michelin in her right hand to show the quality of the brand, set against a green background with the text above and below in bold lettering. The French tyre company Michelin was founded 1889; the Michelin character was created by the French cartoonist Marius Rossillon (known as O'Galop; 1867-1946). Large size. Fair condition, foxing, restored folds, tears and minor loss, backed on linen.
