Microsorum pteropus 'Windeløv', the Windeløv Java Fern, is a refined form of the classic Java Fern set apart by its finely divided, curly leaf tips that give each frond a lace-like , feathery finish. It is an epiphyte, so it grows attached to hardscape rather than in the substrate, and sits nicely as a midground or accent plant against driftwood and rock.This is one of the easiest plants to keep and it fits low-tech tanks well, tolerating low light and no added CO2. Anchor the rhizome to wood or stone with thread or glue and leave the rhizome itself above the surface, as burying it can cause it to rot. Growth is slow and steady, the leaves resist algae, and mature fronds produce small plantlets that you can detach and attach elsewhere to spread it through the tank.
