Mirages are naturally occurring optical illusions that one can see from far away, but disappear as you approach. I created this scarf to have a similar optical illusion effect by pairing two yarns that had contrasting bases, but similar speckles. The mosaic work is easy to see from a distance, but as you get closer it almost blends into the scarf.
