This is one of the oldest blends in the coffee world, and it's earned every year of its reputation. When the Dutch East India Company first paired the bright, high-acidity coffee from Yemen's port of Mocha with the heavy, muted body of Indonesian Java, they stumbled onto something that still holds up centuries later. Our version keeps the spirit alive with a lively, bright Ethiopian standing in for the Mocha and a rich, spicy Sumatran playing the Java. Each is roasted to its own level of sweet, chocolaty darkness before they come together. The result is sweet and fruity up front, full-bodied through the middle, with hints of toffee and spiced chocolate that carry all the way to a long, warm finish. Old idea. Still brilliant.
