The action takes place in Max and Nina's basement, the nearly identical twins who run the game show, and accommodates up to three players. Nine animated icons (e.g., a cellular phone, electrical cord) represent players and offer positive feedback by reacting to correct responses.Games include Mind Twinge, Crainium Cramp, Brain Sprain and All Out Mind Twister, each featuring specific types of questions from 18 categories. In some cases, the type of game determines the category while others remain constant. In All Out Mind Twister, questions involve all 18 categories while others focus on specific concepts like addition and subtraction, multiplication, division and so forth.Gameplay is a mix of "buzzing in" or cooperative team play. In UFO, players buzz in after recognizing a picture or response that fits a statement. Examples include missing numbers from a problem, coloring in a percentage of a design or recognition of a larger or smaller number than the one given. Points are awarded or deducted depending on the accuracy of responses. Some games offer multiple choice answers in a typical 3-person format with the quickest player getting first chance to respond -- if the answer is wrong, the other players get a chance. If a wrong answer is given in one-player mode, the game simply provides the correct answer.Cooperative play is found in The Cooperation Break where players try to get a Vacusaurus to gobble up Numbugs by providing the correct answer to a statement displayed at the top of the screen. A typical problem is "greater than four times eight" -- directional movement of the Vacusaurus depends on the number of players.
