The Story The MING 37.07 is a unique watch with a unique dial design, featuring a brass central portion and outer gray ring with a printed motif and Super-LumiNova for lighter-hued portions. The dial is mesmerizing with a thin sapphire layer above the brass dial, creating a 3-D effect. The watch's design is more difficult to photograph due to the domed sapphire crystal, but the unique effect is dependent on lighting. The 37.07 uses the same case as the 37.05 Moonphase, with more crystal and a polished appearance. The watch also features a new handset and updated crown, adding a sporty touch. MING partnered with Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne to finish the Sellita SW210 manual-wind movement, which has anthracite skeleton bridges and rhodium circular brushing. The watch is 10.9mm thick and has a lug-to-lug of 44.5mm. The watch is fitted with a white quick-release Jean Rousseau water-safe rubber strap, which is a game-changer. The tuck buckle is a great feature, as it allows the watch to be worn with a lighter strap. The Brand MING founder Ming Thein, who graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in physics at 16, developed an interest in watch design and technology. He began photographing extraordinary timepieces at watch meet-ups and became an active member of online watch forums. After working for several watch brands, Thein joined the advisory boards of Hasselblad and DJI. In 2014, Thein and his five co-founders decided to start their own watch brand, MING, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The central mission for MING is to bring back the excitement and sense of discovery that they first felt when they started collecting watches. MING works with a select group of Swiss suppliers for component production, assembly, regulation, and testing, and ships the watches to Malaysia for final quality control. This approach has proven successful for the brand over the last five years. MING gained a loyal following among hardcore watch enthusiasts due to its outstanding design and selection of great movements. The brand's design signature is recognizable, particularly the case shape with its characteristic curved lugs.
