To be clear: I’m originally from southern Wisconsin. But these days, if I want my nostalgic “upper Midwest” fix, I visit family in Minnesota. To me, there are fundamental differenc es between the two states, and it bewilders me that the rest of the country consistently confuses the two, ugh. Nonetheless, I will concede that one commonality is open, expansive landscapes. I caught this moment during an early morning in October in rural farm country just west of Minneapolis. It’s a celebration of the warm, late season light and the nearly infinite horizon so typical of the upper Midwest. Show more
