The Birdwing butterflies originate from the tropical coastal forests of New Guinea. They are the largest butterflies in the world, with a wingspan of 25-30 cm. Unfortunately, they are endangered due to habitat loss, as palm oil plantations continue to expand on the island. Admired for their striking colors and impressive size, they are called Birdwing butterflies, though their scientific name is Ornithoptera Alexandrae. This Casa Kiro version of the Birdwing butterfly draws inspiration from the patterns and colors of its upper wings. Crafted from resin with a pin and stud sterling silver fastening, each pair is meticulously hand-drawn and painted one by one, with great patience, fine brushes, and a steady hand. Since these pieces are entirely handcrafted—from the mold to the painting—each one is unique. Dimensions: 35mm – Small in size, yet feather-light for effortless wear.
