Matchbox sized mini set of these wonderful Waldorf blendable pastels. A great way to explore this technique before moving onto a bigger set. Smudge Pastels are a Waldorf inspired medium for creating dreamy artworks that have a wonderful watercolour-like effect. Colour is ‘grated’ using a rubbing/grating block and is rubbed onto the paper with your fingertips. Layer shavings of the pastels for colour blending, use the eraser for highlighting, and simply wipe with a tissue to set your colours. Along with normal paper, smudge pastels can be used to colour other items too, such as wood, plaster, eggs, clay and seashells.
