How It's Unique The Riptide Maxxum line is a step-up from the Riptide Edge trolling motor. Featuring a more powerful motor (up to 80 lbs) and an optional BowGuard mount (Riptide Maxxum 80 only) with a beefy spring-protected shaft, the Riptide Maxxum is built to stand the test of time. The motor is also available with a latch & door mount for easy motor removal. The Minn Kota Riptide Fortrex is a step-up from the Riptide Maxxum as it features a super heavy-duty aluminum mono arm along with a stainless steel, nitrogen charged gas spring that makes stowing and deploying the motor similar to opening up the tailgate on an SUV.
