Mirabelle de Nancy is a type of yellow mirabelle plum tree that has scented blossoms — a rarity for fruit trees. Firmenich's Mirabelle base takes that delicate scent and builds a fantasy chord around it, of lactones, fruit, spices and florals. Mirabelle Base is unusual on first sniff, with its powerful lactones dominating the opening, shortly followed by the classic plum aroma chemicals and finally a balsamic cinnamon dry down which is very beautiful. In its own, the odour is quite reminiscent of the fruity character of Visa by Piguet. Blend it with Lactone Storm to add character, and with Prunella (Firmenich's classic plum base) to add radiance and top note power. You may not reach for this as frequently as Prunella, but it is definitely worth keeping in the arsenal.
