With delicious cerise fruits boasting intensely jammy sweetness, 'Mirabelle Ruby' is as precious a tree as the stone from which it derives its name! A naturally upright variety, this tree can easily be grown in smaller spaces, as well as in containers on patios and balconies. In spring, the tree produces glorious white blossoms that offer immense ornamental value. From September, the fruits (which rank amongst the largest mirabelles) are ready to harvest. Eat your plums fresh from the tree, or if you manage to get some back into the kitchen instead of eating them all on the way, then rustle up a scrummy plum crumble. Plum trees have been designated by the RHS as one of its Plants for Pollinators, indicating its benefits to insects like bees and butterflies.
