One of the mitzvot of Purim is giving food and gifts to friends, called Mishloach Manot. Traditionally the gift should include at least two different types of food (commonly including hamantaschen, of course!) and be given on the day of Purim itself. Mishloach Manot are meant to help spread the joy of the holiday and foster community.
