Rugged and resilient, Miscanthus sinensis or Japanese Silver Grass, is bold in scale with tall arching plumes of biscuit-brown which age through autumn to a warm silvery colour. It produces lovely feathery flower heads that are a cream colour tinged with purple. An elegant, herbaceous ornamental grass Japanese Silver Grass forms a dense clump and is ideal for border planting, autumn colour, wildlife garden, and mass planting. It is also popular in floral arrangements. Remove spent leaves and flower stems to ground level in winter. Soil: Grows in most garden soils including heavy clay.
