We traveled long, contemplative roads to get to the beautiful Sierra Mixe and source traditional pottery from the region. We saw pieces from the same makers being well used, tasted food from them and admired how graceful they looked after years of being exposed to open flame from cooking. Each piece is a result of hours in the mountains mining clay, meticulously processing it to remove impurities, turning it to workable clay, creating the form, carefully drying it then firing it in raging fire to mature stare. The unique markings are created by removing the pieces from the fire while very hot and using resin to draw on the pieces. Details Dimensions: 7” W x 9” H Materials: Clay Made in Oaxaca, Mexico Care Hand wash and air dry only. Do not soak in water for a prolonged time, do not microwave, avoid use of sharp utensils as the unglazed surface will scratch and if not cleaned immediately, grease and colored foods may stain the surface. Please note: With use and time, the piece will develop a beautiful patina which is part of the beauty of an open flame fired pottery. As each piece is handmade, while similar, no two items will be alike.
