MMB (Methoxymethyl Butanol) is a new product from Kuraray designed as a general purpose diluent to be used with air fresheners (reed diffusers, plugins, pump sprays etc). MMB has excellent solubility properties, exceeding those of most classic diluents, and a low odour. This is a must have material because solvents like DPG, TEC and IPM are not suitable for use in reed diffusers. MMB can be combined with alcohol to increase its evaporation rate, or with water to decrease it. It can also safely be combined with Isopar-M, Dowanol DPM and Dowanol TPM which are the more traditional types of diluent used for reeds. With a flash point over 70 Celsius degrees, it can be safely uses in products that need international air shipping without the fear of triggering dangerous goods costs.
