Our kids have grown up rock hopping along the coastlines of Tasmania. Searching for crabs was the game when they were toddlers, we would lose hours in pursuit of the best crab rocks. Now they are older the crabs have been left alone and rock hopping is reserved for scoping out new fishing locations and places to dive. This seaweed is always present in the rock pools around our island home, Tasmania. Often used as ammunition in the hands of little boys whilst rock hopping. Commonly known as Neptune's Necklace, it's apparently edible, though I haven't tried it yet. Sources tell me its like brined olives which doesn't sound half bad. I'll report back when further investigation has taken place. Hawley Beach, Tasmania, Australia.
