Mohawkite is named after the Mohawk Mine on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, where it was first discovered in 1900. Mohawkite is a rare and distinctive copper-based mineral that is p rized for its unique combination of elements that create an attractive appearance of metallic luster and striking colors. It's composed primarily of copper and arsenic, but can also contain small amounts of other elements like silver, nickel, cobalt, cuprite and skutterudite.
