Inspired by "Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow" by Piet Mondrian Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) was a Dutch painter and one of the first European artists to make non-representatio nal paintings as part of the De Stijl, or ‘The Style’, movement. His 1930 painting "Composition in Red, Blue and Yellow" is the result of years of experimentation seeking pure simplification in painting. Its primary colors of blue, red, and yellow are gridded by thick black lines and white squares.
