What is money, and how do the choices we make with it shape our lives and our communities? Money Matters is a five-day, literature-based family unit for learners from preschool through 8th grade. Two optional extension days are included for families who want to go deeper. Built around a rich library of fiction and nonfiction, this unit moves from the concrete to the complex: from what money actually is, through earning, spending, saving, and budgeting, all the way to credit, inflation, supply and demand, and the basics of investing. Every day follows the same predictable structure: Read, Talk, Make/Do, Notice, and Age Extensions. All children participate in the same shared experience. Depth is scaled across four learner tiers so that your preschooler and your middle schooler are learning side by side, at the level that fits them best.
