“Be careful what you wish for” is a common theme in Western media, but it really all started with a classic horror short story called The Monkey’s Paw, written by W.W. Jacobs in 1902. In the story, a mummified monkey paw grants three wishes to whoever holds it, but each wish is a bit of a trap. Every wish comes with terrible, unintended consequences that definitely aren't worth the original ask. For example, someone might wish to be taller, and the wish is granted by giving them a ridiculously long neck. Sure, they got taller, but it’s not quite what they had in mind. These replicas aren’t cursed objects (at least not that we know of), but they sure look the part. Each one has been recreated by Hollywood prop artist BJ Wilson. Not only do they look convincing, but the latex skin feels real and you might be tempted to try wishing on it. Pro Tip: Don’t. It’s a fascinating and eerie piece to add to your collection, and you’ll probably catch yourself thinking, "Okay, maybe just one wish to see if it works?"
