Monkeypig by Huw Aaron is a picture book about Molly, a pig who lives up in the treetops with the monkeys, living her best monkey life and mostly getting away with it. There is one hitch. Molly is, unmistakably, a pig, and head monkey Norman knows it. To prove the point, Norman sets up a series of tests designed to weed out any monkey who is not really a monkey. Molly jumps, or flops, through every hoop, doing her piggy best, right up to a reveal about who the real monkey was all along. Huw Aaron is a Welsh cartoonist, and it shows. The pages are busy with side characters whose faces and body language carry as many jokes as the main story, the kind of book that hands over something new on the third and fourth read.
