A fabulous gem studded Kachina pendant by prominent Navajo artist Alvin Monte. The figural pendant is cast in sterling silver and set with amethyst, lapis lazuli, coral and the mos t stunning piece of turquoise. This excellent pendant hangs from a modern sterling silver box chain. The back of the pendant is signed by Alvin Monte. Circa 1990. A Kachina is an ancestral spirit of the Pueblo Indians. There are more than 500 of these spirits, and they act as intermediaries between humans and the gods. Alvin Monte is a self-taught silversmith from New Mexico. His work is informed by traditional Pueblo designs, executed with a symbolic and modern aesthetic. Details.....The chain is 18" long. The pendant measures 2.17" by 0.74".
