The warm, dry 2022 summer yielded small, highly concentrated berries, but the natural high elevation of these galestro and limestone soils prevented any jammy over-ripeness. Following a traditional 25-day maceration in concrete vats, the wine spent 2 full years maturing in large Slavonian oak casks to naturally integrate its structural elements. It represents a beautifully transparent, unforced portrait of a classic Tuscan vintage that values balance and site specificity over heavy extraction. In the glass, it pours a dark, translucent ruby with subtle garnet highlights. The nose is highly complex and detailed, offering a beautiful bouquet of black cherry, dried sage, blood orange zest, and a faint hint of cedar shavings. On the palate, a savory, deep core of dark red fruits is corralled by a firm, "crystalline" framework of fine-grained tannins that coat the mouth evenly. A sharp line of limestone-driven acidity cuts right through the textural weight, providing excellent vertical lift and buoyancy. It concludes with an incredibly persistent, bone-dry finish that leaves a savory trail of iron, crushed gravel, and dried tobacco leaf.
