The Moon Surface Band Ring is a band in 925 sterling silver whose outer surface is textured to reproduce the terrain of the moon, craters and maria together. The maria are the dark, flat plains that early astronomers took for seas and named as such, and they break up the cratered ground.There is no figure, stone or flat face anywhere on the ring: the topography is the entire ornament, and it continues around the finger so the band has no front and no back. The moon carries associations of distance, time and night, worn here as an emblem of that fascination rather than as a religious piece.
