Moorit is an independent crochet magazine based in Scotland and run by Alyson Chu. Launched in 2021, it was imagined as an antidote to the dearth of print publications made especially for crocheters. Focusing on wearable, modern garments and accessories made in natural fibres, Moorit is a high-end craft magazine with true indie spirit. Issue 7 (Autumn/Winter 2024) [pattern details here] Fables, myths, legends, folk and fairy tales of all kinds are all fodder for Issue 7. We've had a flick through our storybooks and gathered inspiration from tales of misdeeds, enchantment and bravery. It could be the witch in the forest, creatures that goes bump in the night, a fair maiden locked in a tower, or perhaps an enchanted doll. So go on, we'll spin you a tale and make some magic with a hook and some yarn! Issue 6 (Spring/Summer 2024) [pattern details here] Crochet is art in our 'Balance' issue. Discover a thoughtful and beautiful collection of garments and accessories. There's something for everyone: 2 sleeve tops, as well as 2 short sleeved tops, a tank top, a pair of socks, a dress, a bag, and a handful of shawls and scarves. Issue 5 (Autumn/Winter 2023) [pattern details here] 'Highland Retreat' is a soulful collection of the cosiest and most beautiful crochet jumpers, shawls, mittens and hats. Featuring 11 crochet patterns, and 1 knitting project, Issue 5 is a lovely little ode to time well-spent in the Highlands. Discover beautiful textures, from various techniques for cables, squishy and colourful brioche crochet, and all the wonderful woolly yarns. Our designers have dug into the candy bag of their imaginations to create tops and shawls with delectable details. Issue 4 is big on garments, with a whopping 8 tops to make. That includes not only a tank top and 5 other short-sleeve tops, but 2 light-weight jumpers for the cooler days of spring. And if you're needing a wee break from the big projects, the issue also includes a large shawl, a one-skein scarf and the cutest quick-make beret. So chic! Issue 3 (Autumn/Winter 2022) [pattern details here]We're taking you on an interstellar mission to discover 10 celestial crochet designs for autumn and winter in our 'Cosmic' issue. Our designers went starry-eyed as they looked upwards for inspiration. Keep warm with a collection of shawls, cowls and jumpers. If you're a fan of shawls, why not go big with Fly Me to the Moon or Nebula. Or maybe something smaller: Star Trails or Leonids. And if cowls are more your thing, Connected Cosmos and Solwind are equally cosy but offer two very different shapes.
