Rinse: Thoroughly rinse the piece to remove any dust or debris from transit. The Tannin Powerhouse: Mopani is very rich in natural tannins. While these are beneficial for the health of your fish and help naturally lower pH, they will produce a dark "tea-colored" tint. If you prefer crystal-clear water, we strongly recommend boiling the wood for 1–2 hours or soaking it in a bucket for several days before use.
