The Morgan OD is Joe Morgan's take on the transparent overdrive: a pedal built to extend the tone of your amp rather than colour it, so what you get is more of what you already like, not a new voice imposed on top. The design brief was a flat frequency response with extra gain, and that is what it delivers, closer in feel to switching amp channels than to stacking a coloured drive out front. Discrete-component circuit built to behave like a valve gain stage, which makes it unusually touch-sensitive and responsive to picking attack and to the guitar's volume control. The gain knob works by shifting the DC bias on the transistor, so you are actually moving the operating point rather than just clipping harder as you turn it up. True bypass, a Crackle OK gain pot, and hand-built in Los Angeles. Works well as an always-on second channel into a clean amp, or as a lead-boost into an already-driven amp where the low end needs to stay tight. In stock at the Windsor shop.
