I t’s a scene you don’t photograph, but one your memory holds onto anyway. Dawn Richardson painted this piece after watching a flock of birds take off from a wildflower field in Door County. The shapes in the sky blurred with the color below, and she found herself less interested in capturing what she saw and more drawn to the sensation of lift.
