The fifth and final entry in Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's trilogy (yes, five books in a trilogy — that's the joke). Arthur Dent is stranded on a backwater planet making sandwiches. Ford Prefect is stuck at the *Guide* offices watching the book become sanitized corporate slop. Trillian is off being a war reporter. And somewhere, a mysterious package is traveling through time. This one's darker than the others — melancholic, even — as Adams questions what happens when the universe stops being funny and starts being indifferent.
