Merchant sailors from the English East India Company dominated trade with the Orient in the 17th and 18th centuries. Their sailing ships carried cargo from the fabled East includin g rare porcelains sought after by kings and connoisseurs in Europe. One such piece, an exquisite porcelain plate made for a Portuguese nobleman, inspired our Indigo Wave. Enriched with 22 k gold, the design in deep cobalt blue is typical of the most prized of Chinese export porcelains. Show more
